The Template Library

One page holding three kinds of reusable structure: Project Templates, Task Templates, and Description Starters. Shared across every workspace on your account.

By Updated

The difference is scope. One makes a project, one makes tasks inside a project you already have, and one makes text inside a single task.

Three cards side by side, each showing what its kind of template produces. A Project Template produces a whole project called Client onboarding holding the tasks Kickoff call and Send welcome pack, with Draft the brief nested as a subtask. A Task Template produces a flat checklist of three tasks, Check the changelog, Tag the release and Post to the channel, noted as landing into a project or under an existing task. A Description Starter produces a block of text inside one task description, headed Bug Report with the fields Summary, Expected and Actual waiting to be filled in.
Same library, three different sizes of thing: a project, a checklist, a block of text.

All three libraries belong to the account, not to a single workspace. Build a template once in your client-A workspace and it is there in client-B, which is the entire point for anyone running more than one.

The library is one page, not three. Everything below happens on it.

  1. Open the Template Library from your account menu.

Click your avatar in the top bar and choose Template Library. It is account-level rather than workspace-level, so it sits in that menu instead of the workspace sidebar.

    Open the Template Library
  2. Read the three sections top to bottom.

Project Templates, Task Templates, then Description Starters. Each has its own heading and its own New button, and the order is deliberate: biggest thing first.

  3. Pick by what you want to land, not by what you are copying.

Want a new project? Project Template. Want a set of tasks inside a project that already exists? Task Template. Want a shape to write into on one task? Description Starter.

  4. Build your first one from work you have already done.

Every kind can be created from something real rather than from an empty form, which is the faster route and the one that produces templates people actually use. The three articles below each walk through it.

Tip

Not sure which one? Start with a Description Starter. It is free on every plan, takes a minute to write, and is the one most people end up using daily.
