What it costs
Horizon is a Squad and Business feature. On Free the page shows what it does and how to turn it on, rather than a locked screen. A Squad trial opens it for fourteen days.
It edits the task underneath. Dropping a card on another day sets that day as its due date, which makes Horizon the fastest way to move work around a week: no drawer, no date picker.
Each column has its own inline add, so you can capture straight into the day you are planning. That add takes a name only, with no natural-language parsing and no undo, unlike Quick Capture.
The task cannot start yet, and clicking says why. It lists whatever is in the way, and each one is clickable, so you can open a blocker and finish it rather than going hunting.
It covers both kinds: an unmet dependency, or unfinished subtasks. The popover says which, because "blocked" with no explanation is the least useful thing an app can say.
Tip
This is the point of marking dependencies at all. A sprint plan that quietly contains work nobody can start looks fine on Monday and falls over on Thursday.
Below 1280px the two weekend days share one stacked track instead of taking a seventh and eighth of the width each. A weekday column with real work in it gets the room, and the weekend stays visible and completable rather than being squeezed to a sliver.
Widen the window past that and the full seven columns come back.
When a window closes with unfinished work in it, Horizon offers to triage the leftovers in one pass rather than letting them rot in a bucket nobody opens again. Pick a default for the batch, then override any single task before applying.
- This sprint re-dates it into the current one.
- Next sprint moves it to the next window's start.
- Backlog clears the due date entirely.
- Done marks it complete.
