Installing ToDidIt on your phone or desktop
ToDidIt is a Progressive Web App. It installs to your home screen or dock in about ten seconds, opens in its own window with no browser bar, and lands you straight on your dashboard.

Not from an app store, not yet. ToDidIt is a Progressive Web App, which means the browser installs it for you: it gets a home screen icon, its own window with no address bar, and its own entry in the app switcher. There is nothing to download and no account to re-create, because it is the same app and the same session.
The Apps page has the same instructions with tabs for each platform and, on Android and desktop, a button that just does it.
Tip
Installing is what makes ToDidIt worth opening on a phone. Capture that costs three taps through a browser is capture you stop doing.
It has to be Safari. iOS only lets Safari add things to the home screen, so Chrome or Firefox on an iPhone will not offer it.
- Open todidit.com in Safari.
- Tap the Share button, then scroll down to Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add, then open ToDidIt from your home screen rather than the browser.
Chrome offers this to you directly, so you can usually skip the menu.
- Open todidit.com in Chrome and tap the three-dot menu.
- Tap Install app, or Add to Home screen on older versions.
- If an install banner appears at the bottom of the screen, tapping that does the same thing.
Chrome and Edge put an install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar. Click it, or find Install ToDidIt in the browser menu. Safari on macOS uses File, then Add to Dock.
Either way it opens in its own window and lands in your dock or taskbar, which means ⌘ Tab reaches it like any other app.
Less than the word install suggests, and the honest version is worth knowing before you expect something the app does not do.
- Its own window and icon. No address bar, no tab strip, and it appears in the app switcher next to everything else.
- It opens on your dashboard. Not the marketing site. The installed app starts at your dashboard every time.
- It cold-starts faster. The app's code is cached on your device after the first visit, so launching does not re-download it.
- Push notifications become possible. On iOS in particular, installing is the only way to get them at all.
Watch out
Installing does not make ToDidIt work offline. Your code is cached, your tasks are not, so a launch with no connection gets you the app shell and no data. Offline support is a real feature we have not built yet, and we would rather say so than let you find out on a plane.
